- Senet1 : Bickell would be a good pickup.
- HabsLoseAgain : He is a ufa if I am not mistaken. Seems to be having a good playoff so far.
- HabsLoseAgain : Wonder if marc bergevin with his old Chicago ties might be able to bring bickell on board. He would be just what the habs are looking for imo
- HabsLoseAgain : Not sure if this has been discussed already but what does everyone think of roland melanson coming out and say how prices game has fallen apart since he was let go by the habs. Does not really say much when he is the goalie coach for the canucks in my opinion
- Senet1 : Signing Drewiske may tell us that there are plans to remove Diaz, Weber and maybe even Markov. Drewiske did not have enough time to learn our defensive system and I am thinking that he was signed because they feel he can be a good defenceman for us with time to learn the system. It also tells me that probably only one of the young D-men will make our team that being Tinordi. Beaulieau will probably play (start) in Hamilton.
- Mats Naslund : Habs sign Davis Drewiske to a 2 year extension. He basically makes league minimum. I like the signing. Nothing exciting - but you want him to hold the last spot until a young guy forces his way onto the roster.

Tucker’s hit on Bouillon was cheap. He ran him when he was on his knees 3 feet from the boards. Bouillon’s hit on Wellwood was a clean hard take out along the boards – trademark Bouillon. Sucker punch my ***. Tucker was pushing and swinging at Bouillon by this time – just because Bouillon feeds Tucker his right fist for dinner does not make it a sucker punch. They were face to face and Tucker got knocked down … period … poor Darcy. Then again, maybe he wasn’t knocked down … maybe he tripped over the bad ice intentionally placed there before the 1st period by the zamboni driver

Reasons why the habs are more classy following the Boullion/Tucker incident:
1. Boullion had a beautiful, clean hit on wellwood.
2. Tucker’s hit was dirty and cowardly
3. Tucker first refused to go with a shorter Boullion (guess he realized he was not Eaves)
4. AS boullion moves away that is when Tucker starts throwing punches hoping the refs would then break it up
5. Boullion gets last laugh and pelts the pesty nutcase.
6. Tucker then begins his routine spitting and pouting about who knows what.
7. Tucker refuses to go anywhere near Boullion for the remainder of the game and Frankie continues his bonecruching hits.
8. Jeff O’neil after the game whinnes like a 8 year old about Boullion starting it but refuses to mention that tucker almost broke Francis’ neck with a careless hit.
9. Paul Maurice complains about the zamboni.
10. Sundin still has baked bean teeth.

God bless the Habs.

Classic video. My thoughts exactly

Ah, sometimes the best comedy is the truth. And so it appears that Gainey is actively shopping for a #2 centre and trying to get rid of Ninny. But as usual there is a but, they all want Souray. It would take a star centre to pry Souray out of MTL. And one of the Russians would have to go two to make room. And I think Plekanec would make a better winger then centre with his shot.
Who would it take for Gainey to trade Souray? Can he trade one of the Russians in a package? What about Ninnamaa. There’s a lot of questions.
And in some of the articles they were saying that Markov, who’s the team’s best defenceman, wants a raise(duh, he’s earned one), but Rivet to? Are you kidding me? Rivet should take a pay cut not a raise.
It’s time to sit back and watch what kind of magic Gainey can weave. And if we’ve learned something during his tenure it’s that a big trade could come out of left field and smack us in the face cause we don’t see it coming(ex:Theo, Kovalev).

And how about the Habs current and future goaltending situation. Huet is one of the top goaltenders in the league right now, Aebischer is a pretty darn good backup, and the guy everyone got ecxited about Danis isn’t even starting anymore in Hamilton beacause of Jaroslav Halak. The guy went 7-1 with a league-best 0.82 goals against average, a .972 save percentage, four shutouts, and allowed just six goals on 214 shots in November. He’s only 21 and he keeps getting better. Then you’ve got Price still in Junior who may be the best goalie in junior hockey!(And before anyone says Leland Irving is better, Irving plays on a stacked Everret team while Price plays on a mediocre Tri-City team.)
Just more prove that the Habs know goaltending better then anyone else.

I watched last night after the game,(on Bell express vu), leafs tv, just to see what the commentators(whiners), and players were saying. They said canadiens 1st goal wasn’t an even strength goal, because 2 leaf players collided, and fell back at their own blue line, and that provided habs with a 5 on 3 opportunity. they also said that leafs aren’t able to put teams away when they’re leading. They said leafs played for 50 minutes and deserved to win the game. It’s nice to watch that show after a leafs loss.
does anyone know the status of Rivet? Guys, let’s keep Souray, Markov and Bouillon. as far as the other D men, who knows? I did like that comical video, but hope ontarians on this blog don’t get offended.I’d like to savor the victory, because it doesn’t get any better than that. Besides, we all thought, after it was 3-1, we were toast! It shoes, you never know, and never give up. Hey, Washington beat the **** out of Buffalo. Is Buffalo starting to lose a few? look out for Ottawa, they’re coming up fast. I do believe, that by the end of the season they will overtake the habs. they’re just too strong offensively, and have too many weapons. If we can secure more offence, via a trade, we could make a run at it.
December 3, 2006 at 10:08 pm
fanatic, it’s not that simple to say ‘oh let’s keep these guys’(and Bouillon has a three year contract anyway). What are you going to do, hold guns to Souray and Markov’s heads and tell them to re-sign? It dosen’t work that way. They hold the cards in this situation and they decide what to do. Gainey can’t pull a Metalurg on Malkin and pressure them to stay.

Habs 1: I agree with your thoughts on Sammy I was just poking fun that you had a new target, no harm. ALso I have heard many rumours that RIvet is looking for a raise as well. Apparantly Craig’s agent believes he has earned it with the time he has put in this franchise, however with a cap limit dedication does not earn a raise let alone a similar contract to what he has now. 2 million tops I say. Craig is reportingly looking for a 3-4 year deal in the range of 4-4.5 millino a season. Apparently his agent thinks he will easily get this in freee agency. ALthough De men are overpaid in the free agent market (Aaron ward) I cant see him getting this from anyone except Wang. WIth rivet injured I think everyone will find out just how important or hazardous he is to our team. Although you dont want anyone to get hurt this experience will go a long way for Gainey to determine his action plan this summer.
As for trading SOuray with his high value I say Gainey is shotting for the stars. HE does not want to trade him but IM sure he is entertaining offers but will settle for nothing less then a center and d man in return. Which is a high price to ask but Gainey knws his importance.
