- goalie : Didn't get to see the game at all but it's great to see Pacs get a hat trick and fpor Cole to be + 3. When was the last time this team won three games in a row? Great victory -looks like they're giving 100% effort!
- Senet1 : 4-2 win habs
- Senet1 : Gomez scores, Yea!!!
- goalie : As I said yesterday it will be interesting to see what our lame ass GM gets for players he ships out. Bourque is good and he'll help us but I still think we could have gotten more for him and for Halak when he was traded.
- Avatar37 : round those picks occur (probably 3rd).
- Avatar37 : An interesting article. If we slip to the 5th or 7th draft pick, a very interesting case could be made for drafting Galchenyuk. If we wind up with the second or third pick, I'm not sure who I'd draft, because clearly Yakupov is going to be drafted first overall. Our second round pick also becomes interesting, I know I'd take Vasilevski if he were still available. It will also be interesting to see if we can turn some of our veteran players (Moen, Gill, Campoli) into draft picks, and what

- Avatar37 : That is why PG should have waited on trading Cammalleri. Right now, there is a high demand for a top 6 forward, we could have gotten much more than Bourque in return. That isn't a knock against Bourque, but a knock against a knee-jerk reaction trade that didn't maximize our return on a top asset.

- Avatar37 : chips fall where they may. After all, the only difference between finishing 17th and 29th is how good a pick you get in the draft.
- Avatar37 : We currently sit in 26th place in the league. We are 15 points ahead of Columbus, it's safe to bet at this point they will place last. We are, however, only 4 points ahead of Edmonton so it's still wide open as to who is going to finish second last. I still think that it's time to sit the veterans, play the youth, let them get experience, and regroup for next year. I'm not suggesting deliberately tanking like the Penguins, but give all our young players lots of playing time and let the c
- Avatar37 : goalie - If it were not for the play of Cammalleri, we would never have made it out of round 1. Cammalleri played as big a part, if not bigger, than Halak did. Sure, Halak played well, but remember the team collapsed in front of him, making his job much easier. We had lots of blocked shots and the ones that got through were typically from the outside.
- Senet1 : Goalie you are absolutely right, of course the one thing we had the two previous years that won the games that we are losing this year was our power play. If you look at say 10 games that we should have won had we had a similar power play, again we would not be having these conversations. When your PP goes from first to last in the league that is a lot of goals. How many games have we lost this year by one goal. Again poor management who did not prepare for Markov's possible absence.
- goalie : I'll put it another way.... we need more players who are willing to get their noses dirty.
- goalie : Two years ago when our goaltending stole series adn our players suddenly scored the coaches / GM believed that that was our true team . Well time has proven that was not. Though I was very glad to see the Habs knock off some very good teams we were very fortunate. And fortunate that spring was spelled HALAK!
- goalie : The wrst mistake management could possibly make I believe is to say, we played well some games and we believe the team can play to that level more often in the future. This team CANNOT adnb DOES NOT play to a high enough level. Please do not kid yourself mamngement. hat is partially why we're in the lace we are.
- goalie : Senet is correct when he says that if we had more games with a better efort this year we'd likely be in the playoffs. It has been very inconsistent effort but much more than that. We lack big, tough playing and finishing. Never mind fighting for a moment. We did not compete for the pucks nor along the boards nor in front of both nets enough this year. Thus we are in 29th. If the coaching staff doesn't see that then they shouldn't be there.
- Senet1 : Surely Molson is not going to keep him as the GM?
- Senet1 : when he knows he will be fired at the end of the season. Nothing really makes since in this whole process.
- Senet1 : I am not sue why PG has not been fired by now. They could be waiting for another GM to come available at season end, but why would you not set up a committee to manage the team in the short run until a new GM can be named. There is no since in chaning coaches because whoever the GM is he will want to name his own coach. Gainey and a committe of other executives can manage the team through to the trading deadline and onward. What motivation does PG have to making any worthwhile trades when he is
- Senet1 : I am too mch of a competitor to want my team to tank to. However, If these players played like they ae cabable of playing all year we would not be having this discussion right now, we woud be talking about the playoffs and who we would rather meet in the first round.
- rocky : Exactly, and Senet nails it when he says we have not had an elite top 5 in the nhl player since lafleur.
- goalie : I too want the Habs to get the best possible draft this June. We all need SOME hope!
- rocky : He is persona non grata in habville, and a ghost in every sense of the term.
- goalie : It remains a miracle how we have heard from our mighty GM twice since Christmas - the trades involving Spacek and Cammy and those comments were extremely brief. PG just does not cut it in my world. Part of a GMs job is to go public from time to time. PG never does that in fact he's a ghost GM!
- rocky : Its true, there is no honor in that. These guys have only known the ethic of giving it all to win every night. I do not want them to "tank", and they will never do that anyway. I do want them to lose though, as awful as it sounds.
- goalie : Roicky as a good point. We all want the Habs to get a really good draft pick. However, players, coaches etc. also have a keen desire to compete and win. That's why they're playing at the pro level. Thus we can only hope that the team plays some good games and let the chips fall where they may. After the disasterous season we've had let's not lower ourselves adn get involved in any dscussions about 'tanking' games.
- rocky : So long.
- Senet1 : Good discussion rocky, I have to step out for an hour, but may be back later.
- Senet1 : The only way this team comes back to a team with long term potential is to draft a game breaker. Even all the other bad teams have a Stamkos or a player like him. He have some good player so what we need is a Malkin that we can count on 80% of the time to win a game for us.
- rocky : I mean winning will only do them harm that is.
- rocky : It really hurts because my reflexes make me want to cheer like mad, but it will only hurt the team now.
- Senet1 : Yes I have mixed feeling when watching the game. Last night I say here we go again. with our record of shoot losses I did not expect to win that one. Yet I wanted to win real bad?????
- rocky : God, so horrible to sit and hope for losses, but here we are.
- Senet1 : Our problem is we play one out of every 4 games good and therefore, we play well enough to stay on the borderline of a top five pick. If we win three or four in a row we could take ourselves right out of the running.

Halak will see his first game against LA… just look at the schedule, and Price had a 3 day break before playing again on Thursday…
Thursday will be a good game, if I can stay awake that late to watch it…
March 5, 2008 at 3:23 pm
Apparently it’s Halak on Thursday. It was said on Team990
March 5, 2008 at 3:26 pm
news flash! we have a #1 goalie, Carey Price, let’s not start thinking that if Halak plays good one game that he should then play until he has a bad one, Price is our man, he needs to be treated like it, not thinking he’ll be the back up after one bad game, or even two or three, sure give Halak some games, but let’s not kid ourselves into thinking we’ll get stable goaltending by switching who’s our #1 guy every two weeks, now that’s a recipe for disaster!
March 5, 2008 at 5:49 pm
I think hab fans get really upset becauase most of us are used to winning, We’ve won 24 cups. Look at gretzky and how mad he is when he looses, It’s because he’s used to being in the spotlight but now he’s coach of the crappy Phoenix Coyotes.
March 5, 2008 at 5:50 pm
and I agree wth you patrick, putting Price back up for a game could rattle his confidence.
March 5, 2008 at 6:09 pm
I mostly agree with you, except that lately habs fans are in fact used to losing (over the last 15 years), I’ve been a Habs fan for 20 years and I’ve only seen 1 cup win, and two appearances. Though I really think I could see cup #2 in June!
March 5, 2008 at 6:23 pm
Price is staring tomorrow!!!
March 5, 2008 at 6:24 pm
(STARTING)
March 5, 2008 at 6:50 pm
Phoenix is not a crappy team. look at their record. they could make it into the playoffs. And who annionted Price #1? HE’S DONE NOTHING TO PROVE HIMSELF AS A #1 GOALIE! Let the best goalie play. I say give Halak a chance, because I believe, (along with others) that Halak will prove to be the better of the 2 goalies! Let the 2 compete! wining a calder cup and gold medal doesn’t automatically prove you’re an NHL goalie. the problem for Price, is the same as Latendresse. Before either player played 1 NHL game, everyone said they were superstars. Overhyped! I wish the media would tone down the accolades until proven. It’s obvious that all this pressure is too much for them, and that’s why they have crapped out. In a city like SJ or Anaheim they would bloom, but not here.
March 5, 2008 at 10:05 pm
Well I guess I would put my two cents worth in here. Price will be the best of the two goalies as time progresses, however, Halak needs work and I still say to this day had he played the last game of the season against Toronto last year we would have been in the playoffs. Price has poise but I think he is having trouble adjusting to the speed of the NHL game, some shoots seem to surprise him with their quick shot. However, I still think that Price needs to play because he has to be prepared for next year. I believe that next year is our cup year.
March 5, 2008 at 10:13 pm
Who anointed Price #1 ? Well I believe it was Guy Carboneau and Bob Gainey.
March 5, 2008 at 10:24 pm
Carbo didn’t, and also didn’t want to play him at the beginning of the season. Did it because Gainey said so.
March 5, 2008 at 10:27 pm
.Well i was thinking “Grier” …”Brashear”..so(they are big and they are black bad asses!) ..anyway they got stomped..and if you happen to look at my honorable mentions ..Pacum bud..you’d see that every one scored a goal or got a point…and you have not yet to come up with one prediction in any blog that has come true..you don’t know anything about hockey..you find maybe one “buddy” on here you can team up with and point fingers at everyone else….so it doesn’t make you smart..it makes you dumb!..very dumb!
Quick to judge and slow to understand!….lyrics from a real good Rush” song…yes i have tickets and will going to the concert!
The world is full of mistakes..just happen that some live to make it through a nine month cycle and become “blog beaters”
We can start this **** again if you want..but Ive gained the respect of the other bloggers here…Ive helped them get free streaming games on the computer to watch, Ive made sound and true predictions…and Ive actually got “THANK YOU” from some guys here..its cool to be respected and looked up to…oh yeah you wouldn’t know that…
March 5, 2008 at 10:31 pm
Oh by the way “pacum” buddy…in previous mentions about RAP..Ive thought this one up a LONG TIME AGO!
Go to TSN and look up NHL(if you can)
Go to the review videos of the sports panel and see what they have to say about poor officiating and the games it has cost some teams because of it..
I say I’m pretty “DEAD ON”…there may be a “REFEREE ACCOUNTABILITY PANEL” yet bud!
March 5, 2008 at 10:32 pm
PEACE to all my friends here….
March 5, 2008 at 10:40 pm
Ive been watching and talking HABS since 1975…Ive met many dignitaries and coaches and have to VIP lounges and had drinks with some of the finest gentlemen you will ever meet(God bless Roger Nielson!)
Its east to make decisions sitting on our butts..but its a lot tougher and harder on G.M and coaches than we think…I have friends right now coaching in SJHL junior leagues here out west…
Mr PACUM..wheres your experience?
March 5, 2008 at 10:43 pm
A pointer for the “finger pointers”…the best way to know your team is to watch ALL THE OTHERS!
remember PETER PUCK?..well he says to stay HEALTHY is to go the farthest in the playoffs!
March 5, 2008 at 11:19 pm
okay okay you’re amazing
March 6, 2008 at 2:37 am
Yes “iceman”..you bet..you think..but you don’t know….do me a favor ok ?”big guy”..you must have a dojo in your city…walk in ask the instructor for a “spar’..then get back to me
next idiot please!,,,that was easy…
Any way..Washington’s got a pretty slack remaining schedule..so there in the playoffs…any bets they go to the final?
Thanks “iceman”..all that talk about fat got me hungry…im going to make a big sandwich with extra “mayo”

Habman:
So, you are calling me FAT.
I am far from fat. Just because I am only 5’11″ & 260 lbs I have to be fat right.
Let me tell you something boy. I have a 64″ chest. 38″ waist. 25″ biceps. My neck is 23″. I have 11% body fat. Now is that fat to you? I bench over 400lbs. I too have done my share martial arts, extreme fighting. I have done it all.
March 6, 2008 at 11:23 am
Iceman and Habman get over yourselves. This site is about the Habs not about your egos. Lets just stick to the Habs ok.
March 6, 2008 at 12:11 pm
Price is in? Price is out? Price is in? Price is out? PRICE HAS TO BE IN !!!
He’s our guy….and the Montreal Canadiens organization is not gonna ruin this kid (argueably like the Pens did with Fleury). Montreal knows hockey if nothing else, and know how players must mature and be brought through the ranks. Price has to play to be a top notch goalie in this league. Brodeur, Luongo, Nabokov, and even our old buddy Roy all PLAYED…its practice…you get better by practice, which is playing alot of games. I’m not saying Halak should’nt see the ice, I’m saying Price must be given a chance to redeem himself after a bad game….he’s been sitting on that for 3 days now, and for a 20 year old, you just know thats stewing with him…he’s wants back in there to prove his role.
Let Price do what he has to do tonight and give Halak a game in LA. Keep the bad mental images out of his head, give him a chance for a W tonight and let him prepare for Anaheim…cuz he’s gonna be called on again for a big game then. We’re in the final stretch here where 1 goalie must play at least 90% of the games to get ready for playoff action. No going back and forth, no shittin around….if Price is the man…PLAY HIM…let the team rally around him and show faith after a bad performance and let the chips fall where they may. Let’s do it boys……GO HABS GO !!!
March 6, 2008 at 12:12 pm
Your right.
I’m sorry.
Sorry Habman can’t compare to “The total Package”.
OK. I will stick to Hockey.
March 6, 2008 at 12:29 pm
You all know this blog site gone bonkers eh,lol….from one crazed fan to another.GO-HABS-GO…
March 6, 2008 at 12:40 pm
Right GO LEAFS GO…….
Hang on a minute? ****!
I mean GO HABS GO. Yeah that’s right. GO HABS GO.
March 6, 2008 at 12:44 pm
why did markov get a game misconduct? What did he do?
March 6, 2008 at 12:49 pm
he probably shot off about the offiiciating.
March 6, 2008 at 1:26 pm
Carey Price will be in if he wins. Last game he lost, So Halak will see his first NHL experience since about this time last year….coincidence, hmmm perhaps?
March 6, 2008 at 2:14 pm
Chris, no coincidence whatsoever since he ain’t in nets, it’s price for tonight.
March 6, 2008 at 3:27 pm
we will see when the puck drops who will actually be in net wont we. I can guarantee you, it will be Halak.
March 6, 2008 at 4:04 pm
RDS has reported that Carey will be starting. Guy Carbonneau wants to make sure everyone knows that he’s the starter. But They should let himstart saturday.
